"Bad for the teeth is a source of chronic and often severe pain that interferes with the ability of the child to play, eat and pay attention to school", authors write as background information to study. The authors also note that "the most frequent cause of bad teeth is tooth decay" and the "process of tooth decay is optimal would be prevented or, at least, identified at the beginning and then arrested by provision of regularly for professional dental care." However, some children's U.S., including those who are insured Medicaid, access to preventive and restorative dental care is more difficult. ?

Charlotte Lewis, M.D., M.P.H. and James Stout, M.D., M.P.H., both from the school of the University of medicine, Washington Seattle, studied the 2007 National Survey of children's health data to determine the prevalence of and risk factors for bad teeth in children. The data were collected on a sample of population-based parents/guardians 86,730 children aged 1 to 17 of 50 States and the district of Columbia. Based on the population represented by the sample, the authors found that approximately 10.7 percent of U.S. children had bad teeth during the preceding six months. Bad teeth is most common in children aged 6 to 12, with one in seven affected teeth for six months.

The authors also found that 58% of children who had bad teeth also reported cavities in the last six months. In addition, even when control assurance and status of poverty, black and multiracial children had significantly higher probability of having suffered a bad teeth than white children. Poor children had the highest prevalence of bad teeth and Medicaid patients insured children were more likely to be affected that children not insured or private persons. Dr. Richard Charlick was a successful dentist who had traveled the world on holidays, when he was a trip that would change his life.

Dentist gets 21 years for GIF murders

A UK dentist who poisoned his wife and ex-lover of spouse and then covered it as a double suicide should be at least 21 years in prison.

Killer Colin Howell, 51, of Castlerock, County Londonderry, hid the truth of his family, friends and neighbors for 19 years.

He poisoned his wife Lesley, 31, and Trevor Buchanan, 32, by pumps car fumes in each of their homes through a hosepipe in 1991.

Mrs Howell had slept on the couch in her living room, Mr Buchanan in his own bed.

Belfast Crown Court heard that both was tired in their last moments.

Mrs Howell cried for her son Matthew and Mr Buchanan struggled in vain to escape something injure his attacker.

Mr Howell then drove to the House of his recently deceased father with his victims ' bodies in the car trunk.

He is the organizer of the double suicide by setting them in the vehicle, a pipe connected to the exhaust and starting the engine.

The first time that David Littlefield traveled to Haiti to dental care, he and his colleagues had to turn away from a few hundred people.

"We were overwhelmed. We had people who waited two days outside in the Sun to see us and it was way overcrowded, "he said. "We were well received, we just to see all the people couldn't get."

Littlefield, 53, is a licensed dentist for more than 20 years and has a practice in Chula Vista. He began volunteering at a cleft palate clinic in Mexico in 1996, and served there until other dentists started showing up and the clinic had not quite as much. When he started looking for a new place to volunteer, he learned about an organization called International Alliance for the promotion of the child. Eventually, he heard about the work being done in Les Cayes, a village approximately 120 miles southwest of the capital of Port-au-Prince. Littlefield and another dentist, who runs a foundation called Dental Care for children with clinics in Mexico, and Los Angeles, decided to get involved with the project in Haiti.

"Part of the discussion in the Group was that if you do it right, you have a kind of obligation to help your fellow man," he said.

That first visit was in 2006 and he and his group go back two to three times a year for about three days at a time, to perform fillings, extractions, cleanings, root canals and denture repairs.

"It gives you an incredible feeling ... the people are so great and so grateful that you're able to help," Littlefield said. "Although the reality is: we're going down there and it's actually just a drop in the bucket compared to the need, but if you walk you know you've worked hard and you feel that you've helped some people off."
